Luka tenta di barcamenarsi in cerca di cibo e soldi per aiutare come può la sua famiglia, composta solo da lui e suo padre.

È costantemente preso di mira dalla famigerata banda Vika per la sua disabilità motoria, ma oppone una coraggiosa resistenza scappando con le sue stampelle fatte in casa.
In fuga dagli avversari, un giorno giunge fino al famigerato parco del carnevale.

Sperando di trovare un riparo, invece finisce in un mondo carico di magia e scintillio: il teatro Tivoli.
Catturato dall'atmosfera di questo posto meraviglioso e accolto a braccia aperte sia dagli artisti che dai bambini che ci vivono, Luka decide di non fare ritorno a casa.

Quando viene a sapere che il teatro rischia di essere chiuso la vigilia di Natale, Luka decide che deve essere salvaguardato, a qualsiasi costo.

Norway in the beginning of the 20th century: The sweet boy Luka muddles his way through the sludgy streets of Kristiania searching for food and money in order to help where he can in his small family, consisting only of himself and his father. He is constantly bullied by the notorious Vika Gang because of his walking disability but he mostly puts up a brave fight running away on his homemade crutches. Fleeing from his opponents, one day he escapes into the infamous carnival grounds looking for shelter but instead he ends up in a world full of magic and sparkle: the Tivoli theatre. Captured by the atmosphere of this beautiful place and by the open arms of both, the artists and the children living there, there is no turning back for Luka. As he gets to know that the theatre is at risk of being closed on Christmas Eve, he decides it must be saved – at any cost!
